Meet Jake
A Leader Rooted in Family and Community
At his core, Jake Seegers is a husband, father, and problem-solver who believes that strong families and strong communities go hand in hand. Together with his wife and their three children, Jake has built a life in Clallam County grounded in service, integrity, and optimism for the future.
Jake isn’t a career politician. He’s a neighbor, educator, and business professional who believes that local leadership should be practical, transparent, and people-first. His approach to problem-solving comes from years of real-world experience and a deep belief in empowering families and communities to thrive.
Foundations
of Service
From the Mountains of Mexico to the Heart of Clallam County
Jake’s story begins far from the Pacific Northwest, in the Sierra Madre mountains of Chihuahua, Mexico, where his parents – both medical professionals – provided healthcare to the Tarahumara people. As a youth, Jake assisted them in mobile medical clinics, taking vital signs and preparing prescriptions in Spanish.
Those early years instilled in him a lifelong commitment to compassion, hard work, and community. Whether in a remote mountain village or a local town hall, Jake has always believed that leadership means showing up and helping people.
Experience
That Works
From Business to Public Service
Jake earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Montana State University. While working his way through college — teaching Spanish to preschoolers, substitute teaching, waiting tables and managing restaurants — Jake discovered his true strengths in leadership, business and community engagement.
He later earned his MBA from The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, majoring in investment management with a minor in accounting. While working for a hedge fund in New York City and a futures-trading firm in Texas, Jake learned to make sound decisions under pressure. He then served as portfolio manager for a family business, where he continues to advise today. Through these experiences, Jake gained a deep understanding of how strategic management and fiscal responsibility are essential to building strong businesses and healthy communities.
Before moving to Washington, Jake launched a successful vacation rental business, which he later sold to dedicate his time fully to his family and local projects. His combination of business insight and community focus continues to guide his approach to leadership today.
Why
Clallam
County
Choosing to Call This Place Home
The Seegers first visited Port Angeles nearly twenty years ago and never forgot the breathtaking beauty of the Peninsula.
After years of living and working across the country, the Seegers settled in Port Angeles in 2019 — and immediately knew they had found the right place to raise their family. The combination of opportunity, natural beauty, and small-town community spirit made Clallam County feel like home from the start. In 2022, they purchased property on Freshwater Bay, where they plan to build their family’s forever home.
Jake has spent recent years serving as the primary homeschool educator for their children while engaging in local community projects and supporting initiatives that help Clallam County families succeed. His heart for this community runs deep — and his decision to run for County Commissioner is rooted in a desire to give back to the place that gives his family so much.
Life on the
Peninsula
Family, Community, and Adventure
Jake can often be found snowboarding, surfing, hiking, or exploring the Olympic Peninsula with his family. He believes the best way to understand the region is to live it — to be out on its trails, in its waters, and among its people.
For Jake, life on the Peninsula is more than a home — it’s a shared adventure. His community, family, and love for this county guide every step of his work and leadership.
